Newfoundland and Labrador's unique offshore oil and gas industry can be found in three producing areas: Hibernia, Terra Nova, and White Rose. These projects operate in harsh conditions and require the innovation and technology of many companies to develop petroleum resources. Newfoundland and Labrador produces more than 300,000 barrels of crude oil per day, which accounts for 12 percent of Canada's total crude oil production.
