The following resources have been developed by The Petroleum Human
Resources Council of Canada, for improving workforce strategies
in the oil and gas industry. Please Contact Us for more information on Council
projects.
Draw the World into Your Workplace
The Petroleum HR Council has long recognized the need for the
petroleum industry to diversify its labour force to meet the
growing need for skilled employees. In response to this, the
Council has developed a useful resource outlining outreach ideas
and innovative strategies for employers:
Increasing the Talent
One of the greatest challenges for the petroleum industry is
meeting the ongoing demand for skilled labour in hard-to-recruit
locations. These locations may be some distance from major
populations centres, lacking amenities and spousal employment
opportunities, and/or have a higher cost of living. To address this
issue, the Petroleum HR Council has developed an innovative
resource calledIncreasing the Talent Toolkit. The toolkit
consists of:
- Tools and tips to help manager and HR
practitioners recruit and retain the best people for their
company.
- Best and promising practices that
showcase practical, detailed examples of how companies and
organizations inside and outside the petroleum industry are solving
HR problems.
- Resources and "Did You Knows?" for
more information.
Petroleum Competency Program
The Petroleum Competency Program (PCP) certifies
workers in certain occupations within the petroleum industry. The
PCP consists of standards of competence developed by the petroleum
industry itself. They are intended to build professionalism and
equity within the industry, while respecting the existing or
planned performance criteria of individual companies. Companies are
encouraged to build upon the PCP base of standards. For details on
the PCP program, please contact Enform for more
information.
