Training and Certification Programs
A lot of training is done on the job site and through company in-house programs. However, there are many institutions that offer courses and certifications that provide handy credentials for when you are looking for a new job or seeking a promotion.
Enform
Enform is the training, certification and health and safety services arm of the upstream petroleum industry. This non-profit organization has more than 50 years of experience and expertise in the delivery of world-class petroleum industry training courses and safety initiatives.
Petroleum Competency Program
The Petroleum Competency Program was developed to certify workers in a number of occupations within the industry, including well testing, snubbing and oil and gas transportation. Certification proves a candidate's qualifications for a particular job or promotion.
Red Seal Program
If you're interested in the professional trades, such as Crane Operators, Industrial Electricians and Machinists, you may get started as an apprentice. The Interprovincial Standard Red Seal Program standardizes trades training and certification across the provinces. This means that a Red Seal certified worker can work anywhere in Canada that their trade is designated, and their certification will transfer.
