About the Petroleum Human Resources Council
The Petroleum Human Resources Council of Canada (Petroleum
HR Council) is a national, not-for-profit, collaborative forum that
addresses human resources issues within
the petroleum industry.
The Petroleum HR Council is a project-based sector council supported
by
eleven oil and gas national and regional industry
organizations, including one union, and represents the key
sectors of the petroleum industry in Canada: exploration,
development, production, service industries, pipeline transmission,
gas processing and mining, extracting and upgrading heavy oil and
bitumen.
The Petroleum HR Council was established through the
Sectoral Partnerships Initiative of Human
Resources and Skills Development Canada. Sector
Councils are permanent organizations made up of many
stakeholders of a particular industry, including individuals,
company owners, corporate leaders, employees, government,
educators, and industry associations. Human Resources and Skills
Development Canada partners with, and facilitates communication
among, key industry stakeholders so they may strategically address
issues and concerns within the industry. The Petroleum HR Council
is funded by the Government of Canada.
